The Northern Territory Government is to fund an Aboriginal-led initiative to prevent domestic, family and sexual violence.

The $1.3m, three-year program will allow Aboriginal community controlled organisations and their partners to apply for funding to support initiatives that promote the understanding of healthy, safe and respectful relationships.

“The Board wants to hear from Aboriginal-led grass roots organisations in the community – from the people that know their families, their culture and what they need to support healthy relationships with no violence,” Chair of the Aboriginal Advisory Board for Domestic Family and Sexual Violence, Lauren Peric said.

“We want this grant to be used in culturally safe ways with a focus on stronger Aboriginal families.

“We want to hear your ideas big or small “get in touch with your ideas – now is the time for action.”

Organisations can apply for the grant via GrantsNT https://grantsnt.nt.gov.au/

Grant applications close on 20 January 2025 with successful recipients to be announced in May 2025.
