The chief executive of a remote Aboriginal corporation has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated burglary after an alleged “citizen’s arrest” in the Wadeye community in the NT in December.
Jake Clark, 30, the CEO of the Kardu Diminin Corporation, whom has lived in the community since he was a child, will face court next month.
NT Police confirmed he had been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated burglary over an incident on December 19.
“It is alleged that a man was damaging a vehicle within the community when he was confronted by a 30-year-old who was responsible for the vehicle, who went on to allegedly perform a citizen’s arrest,” the police spokesman said.
“Police attended the scene and the 27-year-old man who allegedly damaged the vehicle was arrested, however, was released pending further investigations.”
Footage of the incident has allegedly appeared on social media.
