Alice Springs a priority for Territory government

March 25, 2025

Northern Territory Deputy Chief Minister Gerard Maley was joined by a number of key ministers in Alice Spring this week to underpin the government’s commitment to reduce crime, rebuild the economy and restore lifestyle.

Mr Maley said he was committed to restoring the Territory’s unique lifestyle, drive jobs and support communities.

“I’m pleased to be in Central Australia, visiting hardworking pastoralists on their properties to see firsthand the work they do, hear their stories, and understand any challenges they’re facing,” he said.

“It’s important that we listen and support them however we can.”

Minister for Prevention of Domestic Violence Robyn Cahill joined Lands, Planning and Environment Minister Josh Joshua Burgoyne to meet with homeless, legal and DFSV frontline providers and workers, and then attended  a night patrollers meeting and joined Circuit Breaker night staff in action on the streets of the town.

“This is a strong and resilient community, and our Government has shown we are dedicated to reviving and supporting the region,” Ms Cahill said.

Mr Burgoyne championed a new program designed to accelerate housing availability across the region.

“This is a partnership with the NT Government, the Commonwealth and Community Housing Central Australia to deliver a reliable $2.5 million investment into the housing supply and offer economic benefits to the Territory’s economy via a viable construction program – a win-win for the residents of Alice Springs,” he said.
