Breaking through the glass ceiling

June 20, 2025

A powerful moment in Australian business history unfolded in the industrial heart of Western Australia recently.

The Cryogenics Group, led by Denise Edwards and her daughter Marcia Edwards, hosted a remarkable event with the Rockingham-Kwinana Chamber of Commerce — not just to showcase their business, but to celebrate more than 30 years of Indigenous and female-led excellence in one of Australia’s most technical and male-dominated sectors.

As the only 100 per cent Indigenous-owned and 100 per cent female-led company in the cryogenics, gas and mining industry in Australia — and quite possibly the world — The Cryogenics Group is rewriting the playbook on what’s possible.

Founded over three decades ago by Denise Edwards, a proud Woppaburra woman and community advocate, The Cryogenics Group has grown from humble beginnings into a trusted national supplier and manufacturer.

Today, under the joint leadership of Denise and Marcia, the business offers a full suite of services, including:

• Cryogenic manufacturing
• Compressed gas supply
• Medical oxygen delivery
• Liquid nitrogen distribution across Australia
• Custom system installations
• Pressure vessel servicing and maintenance

Their headquarters in Kwinana Beach is home to both innovation and resilience, proving that family-led, Indigenous-owned businesses can operate at the highest industrial standards — and thrive.

The Cryogenics Group leads with legacy, innovation, and Indigenous excellence.
