Cox ‘disappointed’ over censure with no right of participation
By PETER ROWE
WA Greens Senator Dorinda Cox has issued a statement after being provisionally censured by the political party’s State office yesterday following a media report of complaints of mistreatment and alleged bullying in her office.
The party’s Quick Decision Making Group – Chloe Durand, Nat Tang, treasurer Matthew Muscat, secretary Stuart Venables and three other members of the Representatives Council – issued the censure.
Ms Cox told ibnews.com.au she understood people were concerned about media reporting.
“I do find it disappointing that such a provisional decision has been made on the basis of allegations reported in the media without even being asked to participate in the meeting, or informed in any way of the process,” Ms Cox said.
“I have requested the WA party consult with the Parliamentary Workplace Support Service before taking any further actions. They are the appropriate body to address these matters.”
On current employee told ibnews.com.au that working for Ms Cox had been inspiring.
“I shared with my partner my desire to paint her for the prestigious Archibald Prize, inspired by her admirable values and commitment to truth and justice for First Nations People,” the employee, who we know but has chosen to remain anonymous, as has the person making the allegations, said.
