Grandmother gets chance to see daughters in jail
After two gruelling days giving evidence Perth grandmother Donna Nelson was given the chance to see her three daughters on Friday as her trial in Tokyo over alleged drug trafficking continued.
Ms Nelson, 58, had already detailed her online relationship with ‘Kelly’ and how she has accused him of tricking her into smuggling methamphetamine into Japan.
On Friday an emotional Ms Kelly told the court she was gullible and naive and she hate herself adding: “My children and grandchildren … they’re the innocent victims in this and I will never be able to forgive myself for the heartache they have endured these 22 months.”
Ms Nelson also said she was foolish to trust the interrogation system in Japan when she was initially questioned and that she should not have signed a statement in Japanese she couldn’t read.
The court adjourned for closing submissions, which begin on Tuesday.
