Indigenous stars snub Sir Doug Nicholls round

Two of the AFL’s greatest Indigenous players look like being absent this weekend from the Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

Australian of the Year and two-time Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes has stayed away from AFL events for so e time since he was booed by a racist crowd at a game towards the end of his career.

And 2015 Norm Smith Medallist Cyril Rioli has ben nowhere to be seen at the Hawthorn training ground in Darwin, despite being invited by the club to attend.

Rioli was involved in legal action against the league and the club after racism allegations in 2022. The case was settled out of court.

Efforts to reconcile with both players look to have failed.
