KPMG’s $370,000 Challenge for Indigenous startups
By PETER ROWE
International accountancy group KPMG is offering Indigenous start-ups the chance to win a pool of $370,000 advisory support as part of their Nature Positive Challenge.
The Nature Positive Challenge champions and supports innovative eco startups to build scalable businesses that have a positive impact on nature and the environment.
This year The Challenge has a dedicated First Nations category with the aim of recognising and supporting indigenous knowledge and innovation.
The KPMG Nature Positive Challenge aims to discover and accelerate eco-startups which are making a positive impact on society and the environment.
* A $250,000 pool of bespoke consulting, tax and accounting services for five finalists to help scale-up and grow their nature-positive impact
* $100,000 Nature Positive Prize to be awarded to the winning venture as selected by an expert panel
* An additional $20,000 People’s Choice Prize for the startup who wins KPMG staff vote
Two themes: regenerative economy and sustainable food systems.
“A new category for First Nations startups reflects that these communities, through traditional knowledge and practices, continue to play a leading role in promoting a harmonious relationship with the land and to innovate to protect our ecosystems,” KPMG CEO Andrew Yates said.
“We also want to recognise the growth potential of Indigenous businesses to the Australian economy and contribution to our environment.”
The KPMG Nature Positive Challenge is open to applications until Friday 8 November 2024.
