Men march to protest domestic violence death

June 20, 2025

A community march in the remote WA community of Fitzroy Crossing on Monday has called for action after a woman was allegedly killed by her partner in the town late last year.

And it was men who took the lead in the march of about 100 people to take a stand against family and domestic violence.

The woman, 32, was one of two women in the Kimberley to die in alleged domestic violence incidents in six months.

Samuel Jade Lincoln Jingle has been charged with murder and is currently on trial.

The Fitzroy Valley Men’s Shed, Gurama Yani U, organised the march with support from the Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre.

The Kimberley Community Legal Service and women’s centre has launched of a new anti-violence campaign, Us Without Abuse.

“The push for the actual march was in response to that incident … it impacts the whole town,” Chair Mansfield Mukuchamano told the ABC.

“One of the reasons was that the [alleged] perpetrator was someone the men’s shed had assisted to get employment.”

Men’s shed director Ismahl Croft said there was a need to establish men’s programs and men’s groups, doing a ground-up approach where the community knows the solutions.”
