Mitchell cops online abuse after latest injury

Indigenous rugby league star Latrell Mitchell was subjected to online abuse after seriously injuring his hamstring at training on Wednesday.

Scans have revealed bad news for the South Sydney fullback, who will miss at least eight weeks of the season.

While many Souths fan sympathised, other online comments were racist and offensive.

Mitchell, 27, has battled a number of hamstring injuries in his career.

He torn tendons in his left hamstring twice – in 2020 and 2022.

NRL chairman Peter V’landys recently has for social media bullying to end amid fears some players could walk away from the game.

‘Latrell Mitchell is one of the great players in the game and we want him here to stay,’ V’landys told News Corp.
