
Our weather guide for Christmas Day – wherever in Australia you are
Wherever you are this Christmas it’s probably going to be warm – in some cases hot!
So here’s our weather check for the big day. Have a great Christmas.
Sydney
Christmas Day in Sydney is forecast to hit 28 degrees, with some cloud clearing later.
Warm and dry conditions are forecast for most of NSW, although there might be a few morning showers in coastal areas.
Melbourne
Victorians can look feared to a warm and dry day on the 25th with Melbourne reaching a maximum of 28 degrees.
But beware… Boxing Day will see some heat, up to 3e6 degrees as Australia plays India at the MCG.
Brisbane
Depending where you are geographically it could be just hot or very warm and wet.
Brisbane on Christmas Day is expected to hit 29 degrees, humid with a mixture of clouds and sunshine.
Southern Qld should be dry and mostly sunny day for the south coast, although the weather bureau does forecast a possible coastal shower.
Isolated showers and an afternoon thunderstorm further north in the tropics with showers and very humid in the far north.
The further inland you go it will dry, hot and and sunny.
Humidity is expected to increase on Boxing Day.
Canberra
Christmas Day in the nation’s capital will be warm and 33 degrees. Dry and sunny.
And Boxing Day will be very similar.
Perth
After a weekend of scorching temps Christmas Day will be cooler, around 25 degrees.
Further south a lot milder with maybe a shower late in the day.
The north west, north and interior of the state will be, as expected very hot.
But there is the possibility of an afternoon thunderstorm in the north.
Adelaide
Adelaide will be hot and sunny on Christmas Day, hitting 35 degrees before dropping to a cooler 16 at night.
But the heatwave will continue on Boxing Day at 34 degrees, with potentially some cloud cover.
Darwin
It’s wet season in the top end and Darwin will be humid and wet.
A top of 34 degrees, but beware, it will feel more like 41.
Further south conditions will be dry and sunny and hot.
Boxing Day will be hot and humid, with more clouds and some showers, possibly a thunderstorm in the morning.
Hobart
Tassie looks like being cooler, with Hobart reaching 23 degrees on Christmas Day.
Morning showers around the west and south coast, however fine and mostly sunny conditions are forecast elsewhere.
Boxing Day is expected to be warmer at 27 degrees.
