South Australia’s Voice to Parliament is in tatters after a resignations, including that of its chair Tahlia Wanganeen.

Narungga, Kaurna and Ngarrindjeri woman Tahlia Wanganeen, who was elected to the Central Adelaide Voice in March and appointed chair of the State Voice in June, quit both roles.

Ms Wanganeen had claimed the organisation’s current model was ‘unsustainable’. She told the ABC that members had ‘day-to-day jobs’, a reference to the workload they were put under.

Three other elected members have also recently – Central Voice member Cheryl Axelby, South East Voice member Darryle Barnes, and Yorke and Mid North Voice member Joy Makepeace.

This latest setback comes after an argument between SA Aboriginal Affairs Minister Kyam Maher and independent MP Frank Pangallo in the State Parliament on Thursday.

Many members have claimed too many barriers prevented them for speaking out foe their communities.

A recruitment process to find replacements to the Voice is underway.
