Senator Price sued by Land Council chief

The chief executive of an Indigenous land council has launched a defamation case against Shadow Opposition spokeswoman for Indigenous Australians Jacinta Nampijinpa Price.

The Central Land Council’s CEO Lesley Turner has claimed Ms Price defamed him in a press release she sent to media six months ago, where she is alleged to have said he was unfit for the job.

The NT News in Darwin has already accepted two stories it published were wrong and apologised to Mr Turner – but Senator Price has refused to do so.

Mr Turner, an Arrernte man, has been CEO of the Central Land Council since April 2021.

Senator Price has recently been given a Trump-style role in the Opposition Shadow cabinet as shadow minister for government efficiency.
