Sonny to skipper All-Stars against his own team

March 25, 2025

By PETER ROWE

Fremantle veteran Michael Walters will captain the Indigenous All-Stars against his own team in the preseason opener at Optus Stadium next weekend.

Fan favourite Walters is about to start his 17th AFL season, having played 239 games for Fremantle and kicked 365 goals.

But he has not participated in any previous All-Star game, missing the 2015 game with a hamstring injury.

North Melbourne assistant coach Xavier Clarke will coach the team, with assistants Chance Bateman, Jarrod Lienert, Roger Hayden and Jason Williams.
