Tigers proud to host matches at Gadhu Gathering
The Wests Tigers are to host NRL and NRLW matches at the inaugural Gadhu Gathering; a new marquee event on the rugby league calendar.
Over three days (August 15-17), Allianz Stadium will be the venue, as teams across Sydney help celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
A range of cultural performances, entertainment and fan zones are also in store for those in attendance.
The word ‘gadhu’ refers to a large body of water such as the ocean in the Indigenous Dharawal language, with the name symbolising the gathering of communities to celebrate a shared passion for rugby league and culture.
On the final day of Gadhu Gathering 2025, the Wests Tigers NRL side takes on the Sea Eagles, with our NRLW team to face the Dragons.
This season’s Indigenous Jerseys will be worn in these fixtures. The playing strips were designed by six young Indigenous athletes from the southwest of Sydney and reflects on their sporting journeys, experiences and dreams.
Gadhu Gathering’s opening match on Friday night (August 15) sees the Roosters and Bulldogs face off, while the Rabbitohs play the Eels on Saturday (August 16).
Redfern All Blacks vs La Perouse United will also go head-to-head on the Saturday.
Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson praised the Gadhu Gathering concept.
“The Wests Tigers are privileged to be a part of this great event,” said Richardson.
“It is a wonderful display of teamwork and coming together from the three clubs, the NRL and Venues NSW.”
