But what is the most ‘unpopular’ gift?

In a recent survey more than half the men questioned listed beauty products as their most unwanted gifts (51.80%), followed by flowers and plants (48.77%), and books and ebooks (31.38%).

Women’s most unwanted gifts are liquor or drinks (40.64%), flowers and plants (36.76%), and health and fitness products (31.70%).

And the most common gift?

A gift card or money came on top in another survey, followed by Makeup products, books, underwear and PJs.

Terrible gifts? Channel Nine’s Current Affair published a story rating a ‘sexy garden gnome’ as the worst, followed by calendars, anti-ageing skincare products, gym memberships and cleaning appliances.

Gifts that end up in the bin – with about seven per cent of gifts returned by the recipient to the store of purchase.

And our total spend as a nation? It is estimated Australians will spend over $27 billion on Christmas presents this year!! Really?
